About The Images On This Site
If you’re a photographer, an illustrator, or a brand and you’ve landed here because you’ve found your work on Glam So Real, this page is written for you. Skip to the section on rights holder options if that’s what you need, or email contact@glamsoreal.com and we’ll sort it out directly.
If you’re a reader who’s curious where the pictures come from, that’s covered too.
Where This Site Stands
Every third-party image used on Glam So Real is believed, in good faith, to fall within the fair use doctrine, to be in the public domain, or to be licensed for the use it’s put to here.
There’s no intent to infringe anyone’s copyright or intellectual property. Beauty and fashion publishing runs on visual content, this site uses a great deal of it, and the whole approach rests on sourcing carefully and fixing things promptly when something is wrong.
Creators Made This Work
Photographers, illustrators, stylists, designers and the brands who commission them are the reason this site has anything to show you.
Nobody builds a beauty or fashion site without leaning on other people’s visual work at some point. Glam So Real tries to be a good guest about that: sourcing properly, crediting where credit is owed, and treating a request from a creator as something to act on rather than something to argue with.
Where The Images Come From
Images published on Glam So Real fall into six categories.
Original photography. A good portion of what appears here is shot for the site: product photos, swatches, hands, nails, flat lays, outfit shots and process images taken during testing. These are owned outright by Glam So Real and are not available for reuse without written permission.
Brand, editorial and press images. Product shots, campaign images, and press materials appear in reviews, comparisons, trend coverage, and news about a launch. These are used in an editorial context, for commentary, criticism or reporting, which the site believes qualifies as fair use. Where a brand or photographer credit is required or available, it’s given.
Creative Commons images. Images licensed under Creative Commons, including CC0, CC BY and CC BY-SA, sourced from platforms such as Unsplash, Pexels, Pixabay, Burst and Flickr Commons. The terms of each license are honoured, including attribution, share-alike, and non-commercial conditions where they apply.
Licensed stock photography. Images licensed from commercial libraries including Shutterstock, Adobe Stock, Depositphotos, iStock, Getty Images and Canva Pro, used strictly within the terms of the license purchased for each one.
Public domain images. Older images no longer under copyright, or images dedicated to the public domain by their creators, from archives such as Wikimedia Commons, the Library of Congress and Smithsonian Open Access. These turn up most often in posts covering the history of a style, a cut, or a beauty trend.
Reader and collaborator submissions. Occasionally a reader sends in a photo, or a collaborator provides images for a post. These are only published with the sender’s permission, and they can be withdrawn at any time by asking.
How Credit Is Given
Where attribution is required, whether by a Creative Commons license, by a brand’s press terms, or by ordinary editorial courtesy, Glam So Real credits the creator and links to the original source wherever a working link exists.
Credit usually appears in the image caption or at the end of the post, depending on the layout. If a credit is missing, wrong, or points at a dead link, tell us and it gets corrected.
When Credit Is Missing
Across hundreds of posts and thousands of images, mistakes happen.
An image may occasionally appear here without complete or correct attribution. Usually that’s because a source link broke, because an image had already circulated widely and its origin was genuinely hard to establish, or because of plain human oversight during editing.
It’s never deliberate, and it’s never a decision. If you find one, it gets fixed rather than defended.
If You Find Your Work Here
You have three options, and the choice is entirely yours. You don’t need to justify which one you pick.
- Ask for credit. If you’re happy for the image to stay but want your name on it, we’ll add attribution and a link to your website, portfolio or social profile.
- Ask for a change. If you’d prefer the image displayed differently, a different crop, a smaller size, a watermark left visible, a corrected link, or removal from a specific post while staying in another, tell us what you’d like and we’ll do it.
- Ask for removal. If you want the image gone, it comes down. No negotiation, no request that you reconsider, no asking why.
Email contact@glamsoreal.com with whichever you’d prefer.
Making It Quick
A request will be handled faster with a few details included:
- The link to the page on Glam So Real where the image appears
- A link to the original, or something establishing that the work is yours, such as a portfolio page, your website, or the original upload
- Your name and how you’d like to be contacted
- Which of the three options above you want: credit, a change, or removal
None of this is a requirement. A one-line email saying “that’s my photo, take it down” is enough and will be acted on. The list above just removes a round of back and forth.
What Happens Next
You’ll get confirmation that the request has arrived, usually the same day.
Where it’s reasonable to do so, we’ll verify the claim, which normally means matching your request against the original source. Then the requested action is taken: credit added, display changed, or image removed. Once it’s done you’ll get a reply confirming it, with a link so you can check for yourself.
If anything about the request is unclear, we’ll ask rather than guess.
You Don’t Need A Lawyer For This
Formal legal notices aren’t necessary, and neither is hiring anyone.
A plain email to contact@glamsoreal.com is enough to get something removed or credited. Glam So Real would far rather resolve a concern directly, quickly, and without cost to either side than have a creator feel they need to escalate before being taken seriously.
Nobody here will be difficult about it.
How Fast You’ll Hear Back
Rights holder requests are prioritised over everything else in the inbox.
You’ll get a reply within 48 hours, and usually much sooner. Straightforward removals are typically processed the same business day, often within a few hours of the email arriving.
